Code Enforcement
The Chief of Police is the code enforcement officer. Code enforcement includes Chapter 6 and Chapter 8.

Chapter 3 relates to Building Regulations. This includes General Provisions, Electricity, Substandard Buildings, Manufactured Homes, House Numbering and House Moving. Under Article 3.03 Substandard Buildings, it defines dilapidated and substandard buildings and which are prohibited. An inspection shall be made of every building located within the city, which is suspected of being in violation of this article. The Mayor is authorized to conduct inspections of buildings suspected of being in violation of this article.
The majority of ordinance complaints have been “public nuisance” issues relative to the weeds and lot sanitation ordinance. Refer to the “Code Enforcement Overview” to identify those areas of the ordinance that will be routinely checked for compliance.
